Viral Beauty Products We Actually Tried: Honest Reviews on Medicube, Goda Oil, Brows + Lip Stain

Today’s episode of the Beauty Lab Podcast is a little different—and a lot of fun. It’s Monina and Velia (plus Slugger making his “I’m the real star” debut), sharing real-talk reviews of the viral products that keep following us around on TikTok and Instagram.

We have a link to all the items we went over at the bottom.

We’re breaking down:

  • A full Medicube Korean skincare routine
  • Goda silk body oil + perfume oil
  • Brow help for thin, gray, or “barely there” brows
  • The Wonderskin lip stain you keep seeing online

If you’ve ever wanted someone else to test the trending stuff before you click “buy,” this one’s for you.

Medicube Review: The Korean Glass-Skin System We Tried

Let’s start with the product line that kicked this off: Medicube, a Korean skincare brand you’ve probably seen in “glass skin” videos.

This was a full system that a friend bought, didn’t love, and passed on to us… and plot twist: we actually really like it.

The set included:

  • Medicube cleanser
  • PDRN soothing toner with hyaluronic acid
  • PDRN peptide serum
  • Zero Pore Pads (AHA/BHA pads)
  • Collagen Jelly Cream moisturizer

The overall vibe:

  • Skin feels clean, not stripped
  • No weird film left behind
  • When you use the full routine, you get that soft, “glass skin” look

Medicube Cleanser: For Oily to Combo Skin

The cleanser is one of the stand-out products.  What we noticed:

  • You only need a pea-sized amount
  • It lathers like crazy (even though the label says “zero foam”)
  • It rinses clean with no heavy film

Because it’s a deeper cleanse and has that strong lather, we’d say it’s best for:

  • Oily skin
  • Combination skin

If you’re very dry or sensitive, you might want to use it a few times a week instead of every day.

Medicube Toner, Serum + Zero Pore Pads

Next up is the PDRN soothing toner with hyaluronic acid. It feels:

  • Light
  • Calming
  • Not sticky

Used with the serum and pads, everything layers well and doesn’t pill.

The Zero Pore Pads are a big part of the “glass skin” result:

  • Dual-sided pads: one textured, one smooth
  • Use the textured side first for gentle mechanical exfoliation
  • Then flip to the smooth side to swipe and soothe

Key ingredients in the pads:

  • AHA + BHA – chemical exfoliants to smooth texture and clear pores
  • Panthenol (vitamin B) – helps hold moisture
  • Allantoin – soothing and calming\
  • Sodium hyaluronate – hydrates and plumps

Skin feels:

  • Smooth
  • Refined
  • Not tight or angry

Medicube Collagen Jelly Cream: Better Than Expected

The collagen jelly cream was a surprise favorite.

  • Texture: true jelly that melts into the skin
  • Finish: bouncy, hydrated, “plump but not greasy”
  • With the full system, you really do get that “glass skin” effect, even on makeup-free days

Used for about six weeks, the overall take is:

  • No breakouts
  • No weird reaction
  • Easy to stick with as a full system

If you like the idea of a simple, set routine that works together, Medicube is worth a test run—especially if you’re chasing that smooth, even, glow-from-within look.

Goda Silk Body Oil + Perfume Oil: Light Scent, Big Glow

Now let’s talk about the Goda silk body oil—another product that stalks us on social media.

This one turned into a habit fast.

Goda Silk Body Oil: For Soft, Glowy Skin

Even if your face is oily, your body usually loves extra moisture, especially as we age.  What we love about the Goda silk body oil:

  • Light, soft scent (not heavy or “perfume-y”)
  • Easy to mix with your regular body lotion
  • A little goes a long way
  • Skin looks less ashy and more even and smooth

Our favorite way to use it:

  • Add a few drops of the oil into your body moisturizer
  • Apply to arms and legs daily
  • You’ll notice your skin stays soft and hydrated longer

If strong scents give you a headache:

  • This one starts with a light, pretty smell
  • It fades enough that you’re not overwhelmed, but there’s still a subtle “I smell nice” vibe all day

Goda Perfume Body Oil: “Sense of Seduction”

The Goda perfume body oil is the “sister” product that pairs with the silk body oil. Notes from our test:

  • It’s a perfume oil, not a spray
  • You use a few drops mixed with the body oil or on its own
  • It’s designed to mix with your pheromones, so it smells a bit different on each person—and even day to day

Real talk:

  • We’ve seen all the AI-style ads saying things like “Rihanna’s favorite scent” or “this is what Jennifer Aniston wears,” which we’re pretty sure are not real.
  • Even if the celeb claims are fake, the scent is still really good.

Why we like it:

  • Easy to spread because it’s in an oil base
  • A tiny bit is enough
  • It’s noticeable but not overpowering
  • We’ve gotten real-life compliments while wearing it

If you want a scent that feels personal and not like everyone else at the store, this is a fun one to try—just know shipping can take a while because it’s often trending and in high demand.

Brow Help for Thin, Gray, or “Barely There” Brows

If your brows have thinned out from hormones, age, or after babies, you are not alone. In this episode, we talk about the struggle of:

  • Sparse brows
  • Tails that stopped growing
  • Hairs that are turning gray

And how to make them look full without that harsh, drawn-on block.

The Brow Routine That Looks More Natural

Here’s the combo that’s working:

Start with a clear brow gel

  • Example: Morphe clear brow gel
  • Use it to lift and set the hairs you do have
  • This gives you a guide to follow

Fill in with a pen or pencil

  • The Sephora brow pen/pencil combo is a nice budget-friendly pick
  • Use the pen side to draw soft, hair-like strokes
  • Focus on the tail and any gaps

Finish with a tinted brow gel (optional)

  • Example: NYX tinted brow gel
  • Great for covering gray brow hairs
  • The small mascara-style wand helps tint just the hairs, not the skin

This layered approach:

  • Lets you keep things light and hair-like
  • Avoids the heavy “block brow” look
  • Works especially well if your brows are thin and turning gray

Extra-Strong Brow Hold: Benefit 24-HR Brow Setter

If you have very wild, unruly brows, we also talk about Benefit Cosmetics 24-HR Brow Setter. The pros:

  • Holds brows in place all day
  • Gives a “laminated brow” look

The cons:

  • Can feel stiff or hard by the end of the day
  • Some clients say daily use makes brows feel a bit brittle

So our take:

  • Great for special events or when you need all-day hold
  • Maybe not the one you use every single day if your brows are delicate

Wonderskin Lip Stain Review: Does It Actually Stay On All Day?

You’ve probably seen this one too—Wonderskin lip stain that goes on bright blue and then turns into a long-lasting tint.

Here’s how it works:

  • You apply a thick layer of the blue product
  • Let it sit (up to 5 minutes—the longer you leave it, the deeper the color)
  • Wipe it off with a damp cloth or wipe
  • You’re left with a stain that stays on all day

What we noticed:

  • It really does last all day
  • It doesn’t feel dry or tight like many lip stains
  • It doesn’t burn on the lips
  • You can add gloss on top or wear it alone

The biggest challenge:

  • Picking the right shade online
  • The color “Lovely,” for example, looked rosy and pink on many influencers but turned out more cool-toned nude/brown in real life

So our take:

  • The formula does what it promises
  • Shade-matching is tricky (but that’s true for most lip products online)

Who this is great for:

  • Brides who need color that lasts all day
  • Performers
  • Anyone who wants lip color that won’t move, transfer, or need touch-ups

How to Test New Beauty Products Without Wasting Money

One of the best tips from this episode is how to really tell if a new routine is working.  Here’s the simple method we suggest:

Take a before photo

  • Clean face, good light
  • Relaxed expression

Use the full system for at least 30 days

  • Don’t mix in five other new serums at the same time
  • Stick to the routine so you know what’s doing what

Take an after photo at 30 days

  • Same lighting, same angle

Compare the photos

  • Look for texture, redness, glow, and evenness
  • Decide if you want to keep going or move on

This helps you:

  • See real changes
  • Avoid guessing
  • Stop wasting money on products that aren’t doing anything
